Following a hugely successful four-year run in Brighton, Small Pond are delighted to announce news of the inaugural London leg of BADPOND FESTIVAL, bringing their eclectic and arresting lineups to the UK capital for the first time. Limited early bird tickets are on sale now.
Hosted at the legendary Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush, London on Sunday 20th October 2019, organisers are pleased to announce that Brighton progressive rock trio THE PHYSICS HOUSE BAND will be this year’s headliners, with appearances from fellow experimental heavy music scene luminaries including Bossk, Palm Reader, Cultdreams, Tangled Hair, Souer, CLT DRP, Intechnicolour, and LibraLibra.
To celebrate the announcement, Small Pond have released a very special live video of Kent post-metallers Bossk performing ‘Heliopause’ at The Haunt in Brighton. Watch and share here:
Earlier this year The Physics House Band released their latest record, Death Sequence—an experimental tour de force that features the wry spoken word of comedian/writer Stewart Lee, and was recently hailed as Album of The Day by Bandcamp, who said: “the band shift from rising prog-rock to cinematic guitar meditation, and then from mathed-out metal riffage to nearly symphonic bombast.”
Alongside a packed bill of music, the site will also play host to a record fair, with stalls from some of the UK’s best-loved independent labels including Small Pond, Big Scary Monsters, Holy Roar and more. Sponsors Old Blue Last Beer and Fireball UK will be providing the liquid refreshment, and Awesome Merch will be making sure there’s plenty on offer for those wanting to wear their hearts on their sleeves. Elsewhere, Brighton-based retro gaming events specialists Gaming Retro-bution will be on hand to cater to all your pixel-based needs.
Bad Pond is another ambitious project from Small Pond—a young music company centred on a thriving recording and rehearsal studio complex in the heart of Brighton, which is becoming a favourite haunt for rising bands and renowned acts alike—many of whom have also stopped by to film live session videos or deliver masterclasses. With a keen ear for attention-grabbing music, the Small Pond record label is home to acts including The Physics House Band, alongside Bonniesongs, Alarmist, Natalie Evans, Inwards, InTechnicolour, Town Portal, Brian Campeau, Yama Warashi, Wild Cat Strike and Luo.
Over the past few years, BadPond Festival has seen Small Pond bringing some of their favourite bands and artists down to make a huge noise in their south coast hometown. With previous BadPond line-ups boasting standout UK and international acts (including Jamie Lenman, Three Trapped Tigers, Delta Sleep, Yumi And The Weather, LibraLibra, Cousin Kula, Valerian Swing, Mouse On The Keys and Bo Ningen) this fast-growing event has established itself as a must for fans of alternative and progressive live music from around the world.
BadPond Festival is also a proud supporter of PRS Keychange, a pioneering international initiative which transforms the future of music whilst encouraging festivals and music organisations to achieve a 50:50 gender balance by 2022. Find out more about Keychange here.
