Kishi Bashi has released a new video lifted from his much-praised new album Omoiyari (out now on Joyful Noise) alongside details for a UK tour this November. and U.S./EURO dates as well.

This thoughtfully animated clip for the new single ‘Violin Tsunami’ was directed by Julia and Mike McCoy. It’s a beautiful track and a moving video. Speaking about the video, Kishi Bashi explains, “The inspiration for the song came from a violin that was gifted to me called ‘Tsunami.’ The luthier, who is Japanese-Brazilian and an ordained Buddhist priest, told me he embodied his prayers for the victims and survivors of the Fukushima tsunami tragedy into the making of the instrument. I immediately began to play it and was inspired to create a piece of music about the injustice of the Japanese-American Incarceration of WWII. In the video, the spirits are ultimately transformed into a peaceful bed of lanterns that embody the spirit of healing and the transmission of memory.”

While he currently tours the U.S. on a sold-out run of intimate shows, Kishi Bashi has also announced a five-date run of UK shows, including London’s Omeara on November 25, 2019. The run of UK dates form a part of a huge international tour Kishi has confirmed, spanning 45 shows across North America and Europe.
