Wasted Theory was born in July 2012, and raised in the Northern Mid-Atlantic salt air states of Delaware and Maryland. Fronted by Larry Jackson, Jr. on vocals and guitar, Brendan Burns on drums, bassist Corey Pettingill, and guitarist Andrew Petkovic, this heavy rock outfit conjures inspiration from several of the most hard hitting, dirty blue collar, beefed up rock n’ roll acts of the past 40 years. With influences like Orange Goblin, Alabama Thunderpussy, Corrosion of Conformity, and Nazareth, the result is a guaranteed truck-ton of boot stomping heavy music.
Only two months from Wasted Theory’s inception, they recorded and released their debut EP Cinco Dechado De Cancion, with a small CD pressing and grassroots promotional campaign. A mere two months after that debut hit the streets, they landed a spot on the 13th annual “Stoner Hands of Doom” Festival in Richmond, VA, with nonstop rock heaving ever since at heavy music festivals and venues all around the United States.
In 2014, Wasted Theory released their first full-length album Death and Taxes, receiving high praise and much acclaim from the patron stoner rock and doom metal music journalists all over the globe. During a full two years of touring in support of their first full length release, these riff roaring metal soldiers managed to write and record their sophomore full-length album Defenders of the Riff, a behemoth of testosterone-driven, southern fuzzed biker rock.
With accolades pouring in from every heavy rock and metal music enthusiast to catch whiff of Wasted Theory’s riffs, these burly bad asses wasted no time in getting back on the road to destroy every eardrum in their path to ascension. In September 2018, they released 4 new songs as part of the California conglomerate Ripple Music’s The Second Coming of Heavy split vinyl series. The album sold out in just weeks.
In October 2018 the band released what is by far their most accomplished work to date, Warlords of the New Electric, adding more fuel to their booze-soaked fire and showcasing what Wasted Theory does best, huge straight–to-the-point riffs, and a thundering low-end to rattle the skull. The band has tour dates throughout the US and will be embarking on their first European tour in September.
The band now premieres the video for the track ‘Bongronaut’, which you can watch below. Brendan comments: “We had been kicking around the idea to do an “on the road” type video for a while now, so we decided a few months back to just start compiling video footage of our shows, our behind the scenes type stuff and just do it gorilla style. This video is really the brain child of our singer Jackson, he did all of the editing, the compiling, the majority of the filming and all of the overall direction of the video. It was actually a blast to do.”
