Surrealist rockers, noid, formed in Kanazawa, Japan, have returned with a new single and video entitled, ‘paradiselost‘. It was released on May 17th via &Records (Japan) & Trapped Animal Records & Cargo Records (ROW). The video for this new single is taken from the forthcoming short film entitled, paradise and the end. It is a film directed by Takayuki Kojima who directed the music video of noid’s last single, ‘moon’. The song, ‘paradiselost’ profoundly inspired Kojima to make his first original film in 20 years!
The track’s emotive vocals and instrumentation are set against a beautiful ambient backdrop and even if you may not literally understand the words being sung, the way in which they are being expressed is universally understood.
We thought it was about time we found out more about what makes the band tick, so we asked them to pick three albums that have influenced their music and Eiji Ishitani answered.
The Beatles – The Beatles（The White Album）
I have learned from them the joy and beauty of the layer of chords, melody, harmony, guitar, drums, bass guitar, keyboard…etc. Besides that, their spirit of experimentation still inspires me.
Akron / Family – Akron / Family
This album inspired me to realize that I could expand the realm of my expression. The songs, melodies and harmonies on this album are amazing.
Sigur Rós – Ágætis byrjun
For a couple of years, I used to listen to this album every time before going to bed. The tones the band created made new landscapes in my brain. Its world is just simply beautiful.
