An experimental rock band hailing from Bristol, My Octopus Mind embody the creativity and idiosyncrasies of their hometown. Drawing from a wealth of influences as diverse as Jeff Buckley, Captain Beefheart, and The Mars Volta, this trio of musical virtuosos have succeeded in carving out a bold yet delicate niche for themselves; part ambient, introverted journey of a wandering mind, part jagged crunchy riffs and soul-wrenching howls.
Welder is the 2nd Single to be released in the lead up to My Octopus Minds debut Album Maladyne Cave in July 2019. The release is lovingly complimented by a spellbinding piece of stop motion animation by the award winning director, Roos Mattaar.
Inspired by watching the oil rigs emerge from the Cromarty Firth in Scotland, Welder is a howl of despair at society’s rampant consumption of resources. Welder tells of mans excess and desire to dominate regardless of consent. It is also a celebration of the Earth which will be here long after humans have destroyed themselves.
