Weathered Statues is a new group out of Denver featuring Wovenhand, Christie Front Drive, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club collaborators and they make a noise that hearkens to the heavy post-punk of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Killing Joke and Christian Death.

On their debut album Borderlands the four-piece walks a shadowy liminal zone. On one side is darkwave, deathrock, and vintage postpunk; on the other is synthpop, shoegaze, and classic new wave. Vast hooks mesh with harsh riffs. Ghostly melodies mingle with industrial synths. It comes out tomorrow (11th May) through Svart Records and it is well worth a listen. Treat your ears.
