Reformat are an awesome experimental electronic rock band who formed in London in 2015, taking influence from artists including Squarepusher, Faith No More and a-Ha. The band evolved from a collection of songs written by Luke Pajak and produced by his friend and collaborator, Russ Russell (Napalm Death / The Haunted / At the Gates). Jay Russell joined them on drums and electronics to record their heavy and melodic debut album, The Singularity.
‘Vectrex’ is the soundtrack to a future dystopia where humans and machines struggle to coexist on an ailing planet. It reflects the hard influence of Reformat’s sound and represents the heavier tracks that feature on The Singularity.
Reformat’s sound has been compared to an obsolete games console recalling chiptunes sung by their factory siblings before they were separated and packaged for sale. Others have described it as the sound of a 56k modem dialling directly into their psyche. The album is also soundtrack to an interactive adventure inspired by 1980s sci-fi films and computer games. The album will be released in April 2018.
