The Echoes And Dust Top 40 Albums Of 2009
So, it's that time of year again. The votes have been counted and verified, Dan's Complex Scoring Algorithmtm has been applied and the reults of the Echoes And Dust Albums Of 2009 poll can be published.
Being the contrary bunch that we are, the seven of us managed to nominate ninety one albums this year, illustrating what a rich year it has been in this obscure corner of the music world, so the margins between some of the albums and how they place in the list are pretty marginal! In fact, only 3 records managed to appear on more than half the voting sheets, so well done Animal Collective, Do May Say Think & Bat For Lashes for creating the broadest appeal.
It is somewhat ironic that a good number of albums in the list are not albums we've reviewed on the site either due to us feeling they were getting sufficient coverage elsewhere or just plain laziness, but it's also satisfying to see a number of the records that we've actively championed over the last twelve months featuring.
Beyond those stand outs mentioned above, it's pretty much a free for all, so for what it's worth, here is the reasonably arbitrary list:
